Discover the SVR Diesel Fleet at home, away & on the main line. With Class 20s, 25s, 27s, 37s, 42s, 50s and 52s; there really is something for everybody!
The first two diesel locomotives - Class 52 'Westerns' D1013 and D1062 - arrived on the Severn Valley Railway in 1978. Since then, the SVR diesel fleet has gradually expanded and during the intervening years, many locos have changed liveries - and in some cases even numbers.
In November 1997, 50031 became the first SVR-based diesel to return to the main line and several other locos followed.
The programme features fourteen SVR diesels from Class 20 upwards at work on the 16-mile heritage line between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth, as well as some of their visits to other preserved railways.
Also included are many main line workings by 50031, 50044, 50049 and D1015 from around the national network.
Many of the locos are seen in various guises over the years - from maroon to BR blue and from Railfreight to Loadhaul. There are even several freight workings.
